In short
No advertising pixels, no social trackers, and nothing sold to anyone. This site does run one analytics tool — Microsoft Clarity — which sets two cookies and records how pages are used. If you fill in the contact form, your details go to a private spreadsheet and my inbox so that I can reply. Ask me to delete them and I will.
Who is collecting it
Willits Forge — Alec Willits, a sole practitioner based in Rexburg, Idaho. You can reach me at alec@willitsforge.com about anything on this page, including a request to see or delete what I hold.
What's collected
If you use the contact form: your name, email address, and whatever you choose to put in the business, budget and message fields. Two technical values are recorded alongside them — which page you submitted from, and how many seconds you spent on it before submitting. Those exist purely to distinguish real inquiries from automated spam.
If you don't use the form: this site runs
Microsoft Clarity, which
records how pages are used — clicks, scrolling, and a replay of mouse and touch movement
— so I can see where a layout confuses people. It sets two cookies
(_clck and _clsk) to tell one visit from another. Clarity masks text
content by default, so what you type into the form isn't captured by it.
There are no advertising pixels and no social trackers. Fonts are served from this domain rather than a third party, so loading a page doesn't announce you to anyone else.
Opting out: a browser-level Global Privacy Control signal, Do Not Track, or any content blocker will stop it. I'd rather you block it than feel watched.
My web host keeps standard server logs, as every web host does. Those are the host's records rather than mine and are used for security and diagnostics.
Why, and on what basis
To reply to you, and to keep a record of the conversation so that a project has a history. That's it. Your details are never sold, never shared with a third party for their own purposes, and never added to a marketing list — there's no marketing list.
Where it goes
When you submit the form, the contents travel to two places:
- A private Google Sheet that only I can open.
- A notification to my phone and inbox so I see it quickly.
That means Google acts as a processor for this data, under their own terms. Nothing is sent anywhere else, and no automated system makes any decision about you.
How long it's kept
Inquiries that turn into projects are kept for as long as the working relationship lasts and for a reasonable period afterwards, because project history is genuinely useful years later. Inquiries that go nowhere are cleared out periodically. Either way, you can ask me to delete yours at any time and I'll do it without asking why.
Your rights
You can ask me to:
- tell you what I hold about you,
- correct anything that's wrong,
- delete it,
- send you a copy.
Email alec@willitsforge.com and I'll handle it within one business day, the same as anything else.
Links to other sites
The work pages link to client websites and the footer links to my profiles elsewhere. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which I don't control and can't speak for.
Changes
If what happens to your data changes, this page changes with it and the review date above moves. It's not a document I intend to quietly expand.
